WORLD RANGERS' DAY

Let's pause for a moment to reflect the courage and sacrifice of our Nature's Real-life Heroes!!!

Let's honour this day to commemorate the Rangers who are injured and killed in the line of duty and celebrate their colleagues who bravely undertake their role in the field to protect the world's natural and cultural treasures. A ranger is a person charged with preserving and protecting parklands and natural protected areas. They provide contact between the national park authority and between local people and visitors.

The first world ranger day was celebrated on the 15th anniversary of the initiation of the International Ranger Federation (IRF) in 2007. This day is organized by the 63 members union of the IRF and by the associate the Thin Green Line Foundation, and also promoted by individuals who encourage the work of rangers.

You may think that the real danger of being a park ranger comes from the animals and the national landscape. In fact, you would be wrong! Statistics show that park rangers are facing more dangers than ever before.

THEN... HOW COULD WE CELEBRATE THIS DAY in MEANINGFUL MANNER ?

We could pay honour to the rangers of the world on World Rangers Day, by raising funds for all of critical works of rangers. This includes supporting the families of fallen Rangers, as well as raising funds for equipping and training Rangers in the field.

_Spread the word and raise awareness _

We can establish awareness through the likes of blogging and social media. There are lots of great pieces of content online, including infographics and fact sheets, which you can share with others to try and raise awareness about the work that Rangers do.

Let's stand with the rangers!
